Responsible Drug Disposal Starts with a Responsible Design
Our commitment to environmental responsibility goes beyond the medications being disposed of. It encompasses the entire design and lifecycle of the Rx Destroyer solution. From our ingredient selection and sourcing to manufacturing process and formulation, every element is intentionally developed with safety, performance, and environmental stewardship top of mind.
We believe that solutions designed to protect the environment shouldn’t introduce new risks. Which is why we hold ourselves accountable to the highest standards to ensure our products deliver effective disposal without compromising environmental integrity or user safety.
The Standard for Safe Drug Disposal
When our formula was developed by our founder, there was one requirement that came before everything else; it had to be effective at deactivating medications but safe enough to use around his young children at home.
Rather than relying on harsh chemicals, Rx Destroyer is formulated with carefully selected ingredients designed to balance safety, performance, and environmental responsibility.
The result? A pH-balanced formula enriched to deactivate medications while embodying the same core principles  around safety and sustainability.
- Non-Toxic
- pH-Balanced
- DEA Lab Certified

Staying close to home matters to us.
That’s why our products are manufactured in our own 40,000 sq. ft. facility in East Troy, WI. This allows us to control quality, support our neighbors with local jobs, reduce transportation requirement, and make sustainability more than just a buzzword.
Sourced Locally
Sustainability starts long before our products reach our customers.
We prioritize partnerships with local suppliers to reduce transportation impacts on the environment and support ethical sourcing practices.

Common Sustainability & Safety FAQ’s
Find answers to common questions about pharmaceutical disposal, DEA compliance, product usage, regulations, and best practices.
-
How is Rx Destroyer reusable?
The term “reusable” in reference to Rx Destroyer pertains exclusively to its capacity for pharmaceutical disposal until full. Rx Destroyer is designed to be employed for the secure and environmentally responsible disposal of pharmaceuticals until its maximum holding capacity is reached. Users are advised to adhere to the product’s specific guidelines and instructions for use. It’s important to note that once Rx Destroyer reaches its full capacity, it should no longer be utilized for pharmaceutical disposal, and users must follow appropriate disposal procedures. The term “reusable” does not imply indefinite or limitless use but rather emphasizes the product’s ability to be employed multiple times until reaching its predetermined limit. Users are encouraged to exercise caution and responsibility when using Rx Destroyer. The manufacturer is not liable for any misuse or improper disposal of pharmaceuticals.
-
Does Rx Destroyer prevent pharmaceuticals from entering groundwater or drinking water supplies?
Rx Destroyer is designed to reduce the potential for pharmaceutical compounds to be released into the environment by adsorbing medications utilizing a method of deactivation known as chemical digestion. This method of disposal eliminates the contamination risks associated with flushing or draining medications. TCLP testing demonstrated that greater than 99% of ibuprofen in the evaluated Rx Destroyer sample was non-leachable, indicating a low potential for release under the simulated landfill leaching conditions used in the test.
-
Is there independent testing showing that the product effectively neutralizes active drug ingredients?
Yes. Independent and certified DEA lab testing demonstrates the effectiveness of Rx Destroyer products for deactivation, adsorption and environmental impact.
Better Science, Not Bigger Marketing Claims
Activated carbon is often used as a selling point for drug deactivation. The misinformation being spread is that more carbon equals better deactivation performance. But proper science tells us a different story.
At Rx Destroyer, our formula is designed around effectiveness, not marketing. We use the appropriate amount of activated carbon necessary for effective drug deactivation performance without adding excessive materials simply to create a marketing claim.
Environmentally responsible product design means using what is needed and not more than. Efficiency is sustainability.
